Going to berlin Fashionweek! 12/14/2011
I just got it confirmed that i am going to Berlin Fashionweek 18-20. of January where I will be exhibiting at Brunnenstr 170 in a galerie which is rented for the occation by Fier Management who are hosting the event. I am one of the eight designers they are promoting. This really destroyed my illusion of a quiet x-mas, but who cares?? Looking forward to be back in beautiful Berlin! Add Comment I got a bit carried away after being challenged by alltime-champion-gingerbreadhouse-baker Vera Micaelsen. I can now, after quite a few hours of doing this give some advice. Most important, -don´t make the dough yourself, buy it! secondly, always recut the pieces right after they come out of the oven (you have of course made a cardboard pattern for all the pieces). Glue with melted sugar and use thick square pieces on the inside of the corners to stabilize them.. I should really have done some jewellery for a x-mas show today, but well.. at least i won:) ready to show! 11/24/2011
aaah! eventually my exhibition in Bergen; The Secret Garden, in Gallery Format is more or less finished. I am sooo pleased with the result. Opening tonight and praying for good weather (it rains quite a lot here..) almost there 11/20/2011
Been packing all day and heaven knows how I will actually get to the train with over hundred kilos of luggage. Here are some picts of some of the last pieces which I actually finished today. They are made from paper which has been dipped in resin and then electroformed with copper which has been treated with salt and vinegar to get the weathered surface. Lots of fun! Can´t wait to be on that night train. Tomorrow Bergen and straight into Hotel Grand Terminus for breakfast. Can be recommended if you arrive Bergen early in the morning. art by accident! 11/18/2011
The closer to the exhibition I get, the more fantastic accidents I make and I just love this part of the process. The other day I had finished off and oxidized three pair of big earrings when they all broke off due to some dry soldering I hadn´t discovered, I was really pissed off and put them all aside so I could resolder them when I got the chance. When I took a glance on them later I realised they how beautiful they were stacked up like that; so I got my drill and hammer out and riveted them together into a ring. Love the result, just finished:) The morale is: if everything works out just like you planned it is fine, but if it all goes haywire fantastic things can happen working weekend 11/06/2011
just some more photos to keep you posted on the progress here. Been gluing hundreds og little papershapes together, and tomorrow I will try and electroform them, which means adding a thin layer og copper to the surface.. not sure if it will work on these complicated structures though.. countdown to my opening in Bergen 11/02/2011
my head is exploding these days with ideas and new work is just pouring out. I am simulatneously working on about 5 differerent lines of work and just time will show if I can actually pull this off. Right now I am putting together different 3d diorama panels with hundreds of small details inside. It is a lengthy process since I have to work on each layer to make it 3d, but hey, funfunfun! Phew! After long nights, lots of coffee and numb buttocks I can now declare my new shop for OPEN! Please let me know if there are some wrong links etc, there are some thousand small details in such a page, so there´s bound to be some mistakes somewhere. I am quite pround as I have done it all myself, the designing, setup, layout,-the lot The adress is http://kgd-shop.weebly.com This year the annual fundraising done by the NRK (national Norwegian broadcaster) will this year go to Norwegian People´s Aid and their work with practical landmine and cluster clearance, and their political advocacy work against these wapons. They are central participants in the work to develop and implement ban treaties against both landmines and cluster munitions. I will be making a big necklace for one of the presenters, Haddy N´jie which will be actioned away during the show. It is such an honour to be able to contribute with my skills in this important cause, and I hope everyone will contribute with donations! The necklace is made in silver with 4 big black pearls and some smaller black ones, the surface has been roughed up with different drill-bits and then oxidized. I will keep track of the process on my facebook-page Remember to have cash ready at 23rd of October! New web-shop.. very soon! 09/26/2011
After working looong evenings and nights for a long time I am in the final stage of testing my shop before officially opening in to the public. It has been great fun, but very late in the process I realized I could copy designs and links from page to page.. ggrr. So stay tuned, 1st of october is the big day! It will be possible to buy the whole Secret Garden collection, Bubbles and the new 20 ltd edition of cufflinks. | KGD - kaja gjedebo designI have been working as an artist and jewellery designer since 2000, and I love working with miniature collages where I layer images, figures and text in resin. I make cufflinks, braclets pendants and rings this way, but I have also made women´s jewellery inspired by enamel jewellery of the 1950´s where I use resin, silver and pearls. These days I concentrate on shapes and forms and pearls, and am trying to move away from colour and resin for the time being.
