Been packing all day and heaven knows how I will actually get to the train with over hundred kilos of luggage. Here are some picts of some of the last pieces which I actually finished today. They are made from paper which has been dipped in resin and then electroformed with copper which has been treated with salt and vinegar to get the weathered surface. Lots of fun! Can´t wait to be on that night train. Tomorrow Bergen and straight into Hotel Grand Terminus for breakfast. Can be recommended if you arrive Bergen early in the morning. 1 Comment The closer to the exhibition I get, the more fantastic accidents I make and I just love this part of the process. The other day I had finished off and oxidized three pair of big earrings when they all broke off due to some dry soldering I hadn´t discovered, I was really pissed off and put them all aside so I could resolder them when I got the chance. When I took a glance on them later I realised they how beautiful they were stacked up like that; so I got my drill and hammer out and riveted them together into a ring. Love the result, just finished:) The morale is: if everything works out just like you planned it is fine, but if it all goes haywire fantastic things can happen just some more photos to keep you posted on the progress here. Been gluing hundreds og little papershapes together, and tomorrow I will try and electroform them, which means adding a thin layer og copper to the surface.. not sure if it will work on these complicated structures though.. Phew! After long nights, lots of coffee and numb buttocks I can now declare my new shop for OPEN! Please let me know if there are some wrong links etc, there are some thousand small details in such a page, so there´s bound to be some mistakes somewhere. I am quite pround as I have done it all myself, the designing, setup, layout,-the lot The adress is http://kgd-shop.weebly.com After working looong evenings and nights for a long time I am in the final stage of testing my shop before officially opening in to the public. It has been great fun, but very late in the process I realized I could copy designs and links from page to page.. ggrr. So stay tuned, 1st of october is the big day! It will be possible to buy the whole Secret Garden collection, Bubbles and the new 20 ltd edition of cufflinks. After almost going nuts from all the sawing and filing of Secret Garden I decided to find out whether someone could help me out with this. I struck luck immideately, and found www.kmg.no; Karl M gustavsens Stansefabrikk, and old factory with all kind of modern equipment for punching out shapes and all kinds of metal workshop-machines. They decided that secret garden was too intricate for punching out, but that threadcutting would be ideal. Threadcutting is a thin wire which cuts with electricity, and it can cut up to 5 cm thick material at the time. It takes hours, but the result is amazing and there is no filing, just chuck it in the tumbler. So the other day i got back 50 sheets of silver which had been cut with all the shapes I need for Secret Garden before I go to the Jewellery fair in Copenhagen. I love industry! Working into the late night to get everything finished for photo-session on Monday. Just realised 01 on the morning is not the best time for soldering.. tomorrow morning there is sandblasting and then goldplating Found a great photographer, Mira Zahl, who is taking on the mission. http://cargocollective.com/mirazahl Last week I went to visit Bergen where I will exhibit in December. Great rooms and great location, now I only have to fill it with my work.. I am planning to make "stained glass windows" out of my resin dioramas, which will glow from the slots they have for windows during the dark hours of the day, and then my new collection "sectret garden" inside. The exhibition showing here is Armando Santos, beautiful work! |
