First time to one of the biggest jewellery fairs in Europe as an exhibitor together with Dagmar Mildes from www.dagmaria.no. Big step, lots of money and thousands of visitors! We were actually the only Norwegian exhibitors there. I lived in Munich almost twenty years ago, but my german seemed to be stuck somewhere so that will be the task for next year! Inhorgenta is the place to be for jewellery-designers like me, hall C2 is for independent makers as myself, and it was a truly inspiring place to be, but you feel pretty daunted by the sheer amount of talent there. We were moaning a bit by the lack of free coffee in the morning, but that was just until we realised there was free alcohol every night after closing time. Nothing is like a good glass of white after nine hours on your feet! Looking forward to come back next year, with comfortable shoes and better german:) |
Add Comment Been packing all day and heaven knows how I will actually get to the train with over hundred kilos of luggage. Here are some picts of some of the last pieces which I actually finished today. They are made from paper which has been dipped in resin and then electroformed with copper which has been treated with salt and vinegar to get the weathered surface. Lots of fun! Can´t wait to be on that night train. Tomorrow Bergen and straight into Hotel Grand Terminus for breakfast. Can be recommended if you arrive Bergen early in the morning. The closer to the exhibition I get, the more fantastic accidents I make and I just love this part of the process. The other day I had finished off and oxidized three pair of big earrings when they all broke off due to some dry soldering I hadn´t discovered, I was really pissed off and put them all aside so I could resolder them when I got the chance. When I took a glance on them later I realised they how beautiful they were stacked up like that; so I got my drill and hammer out and riveted them together into a ring. Love the result, just finished:) The morale is: if everything works out just like you planned it is fine, but if it all goes haywire fantastic things can happen just some more photos to keep you posted on the progress here. Been gluing hundreds og little papershapes together, and tomorrow I will try and electroform them, which means adding a thin layer og copper to the surface.. not sure if it will work on these complicated structures though.. Last week I went to visit Bergen where I will exhibit in December. Great rooms and great location, now I only have to fill it with my work.. I am planning to make "stained glass windows" out of my resin dioramas, which will glow from the slots they have for windows during the dark hours of the day, and then my new collection "sectret garden" inside. The exhibition showing here is Armando Santos, beautiful work! Had a great opening at Gullsmed Kluges jewellery-gallery in Stavanger this Saturday with Sigfrid Sannes and Kathrine Lindman. Great to meet all the local customers, fans and other jewellery makers. Lots of champagne and fun! Went to a really nice exhibition yesterday at RAM galleri, close to the Modern Art museum in Oslo, Kongensgate. It was two textile artist who had collaborated, Synnøve Øyen and John K. Raustein. See link This is a taster on what I am working on at the moment, it is work in progress for my solo exhibition in December where I am working on a much bigger wall piece. So far it is consisting of 83 pieces which are 1x1,5 cm big.. It will be shown at the stipendutstilling from 21st of January at Rådhuset in Oslo. But is not how it will look in the end. |
